Karmaracer’s concept is to show children, parents, and communities the healthy and fun benefits of cycling.  We regularly give away bicycles to the less fortunate who cannot afford them. This includes, but is not limited to foster children and the homeless.

We teach children and adults how to take care of their equipment. Some examples of bicycle maintenance are: changing a tire, adjusting breaks, finding correct sizing for each individual, as well as using proper safety equipment. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, large and small businesses are some of the groups that we would like to educate in the benefits of cycling and upkeep of bicycles.  Communities are also candidates for learning; so we host open to the public events to facilitate that learning, such as group settings at park districts to involve as many people as possible to become more interested in bicycles and the benefits of healthy cycling.

A number of group rides are planned for people who want to belong to a team or join cycling as a healthy hobby. Monthly or weekly rides are available. If the members decide they want to dedicate themselves to this lifestyle, they can compete in cycle racing. Schedules can be obtained for the group rides, and once the athlete wants to progress; we can supply a schedule for that competition’s season.

We also contact local bike shops to pick up their unused parts and bicycles that are no longer safe to ride. If possible, the parts are reconditioned for use in other bicycles. The bicycles that are no longer fit for riding are taken apart; the parts that are still usable are reconditioned for use; all other parts are set aside to be recycled at the proper facilities. Part of Karmaracer’s vision is to ensure that as much material as possible is recycled.

In order to facilitate our services, we need donations of old and used bicycles, equipment (helmets, shorts, cycling equipment, etc.), as well as volunteers. Gifts of money are necessary to maintain equipment and to purchase safety gear and are greatly appreciated.

In closing, our goal is to sustain the great hobby of cycling and to promote healthy lifestyles in children and adults.
